NOTES

If you cannot see the slide show, it may be because you have an older Web browser that does not support Java, or because you have not enabled Java within your Web browser. (The slide show is created by a Java applet. Java is a programming language that is able to operate within most current Web browsers.)

AOL Users:
The standard-issue AOL software includes a version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. The current version of AOL software is 4.0. It supports Java and it should present the slide show. (To determine which version of AOL software you are using, click on Help/About AOL. If you don't have the current version, we suggest you download and install it.)

However, even with the current version, support for Java is intermitent. Some people can view the slide show, others cannot. If you cannot see the slide show and instead get an empty gray box, try pressing on the Ctrl key and while holding the key down, click the Refresh button (the semi-circle with an arrow). If that doesn't start the slide show, please file a complaint with AOL. You should also consider using a separate Web browser instead of the default browser provided by AOL. We recommend Netscape Navigator. To obtain this browser, do a keyword search within AOL, and you should be directed to an area where it may be downloaded.

Netscape Navigator/Communicator users:
The current version of NN is 4.x and it supports Java. (To determine which version of software you are using, click on Help/About Navigator or Communicator.) To enable Java within the browser:

• Click on Edit/Preferences
• In the Category window, click on Advanced
• Check the box next to Enable Java
• Close and re-open your browser

If you still cannot see the slide show, contact your Internet service provider or Netscape.

MS Internet Explorer users:
The current version of MSIE is 5.x, which supports Java (according to Bill Gates) and it should automatically present the slide show. (To determine which version of software you are using, click on Help/About Internet Explorer.) However, as with the AOL software, support for Java is intermitent. Some people can view the slide show, others cannot. If you cannot see the slide show and instead get an empty gray box, try this: Press on the Ctrl key and while holding the key down, click the Refresh button. If you still cannot see the slide show, contact your Internet service provider or Microsoft.
